Stained Glass Cookies

These stained glass cookies are so pretty. The translucent stained glass in the middle of the cookie is made of Fox's Crystal Clear Fruit Candy.

I used 2 cookie cutters of the same
pattern but different sizes.

Sue,
Thank you.
Just use your favourite cut out cookie recipe will do.
5 minutes before the cookies are due out of oven, insert a Fox's clear fruit candy into the hollow of each cookie and bake for 5 minutes.
That easy!

florence - these are one of the nicest glass stained cookies i've seen. did u have to crush the candy or just put in the whole candy?

Dear Florence,
Have been reading your blog silently for a long while. I need some advice from you as i will be moving to guangzhou with my family at end of the year. Do you happen to know any baking specialty shop in guangzhou? Also which shop in HK is nearest to the train station from guangzhou? Pls email me at nancyho@dare2btotz.com. Thank you so much
Nancy

xan,
Thank you!
I did not crush the candies. Just use 3/4 of a candy.
Actually it depends on the size of the cavity, if smaller cavity then you have to use crushed candy, otherwise just use 1 whole candy.

KWF,
Thank you.
Yes, the baked cookies has to be cooled before removing from the lined tray to allow the candy to set upon cooling - which is a couple of minutes.

This is a bi-monthly food magazine, printed in bilingual (English/ Chinese) and distributed in Malaysia, Singapore & Brunei. I wonder if you are interested to become a contirbutor?

I will be going to HK on 29th April 2009. Maybe we can have a chat.

Hi Florence!

I love these little flower cookies that you made! Can you share the cookie recipe with me as i have never baked any cut-out cookies before and also it will be great if you can tip me when to open up the oven to place the candy in?

it might sound silly to ask... but how do you cut the HARD fox candy into 3/4?

is it advisable to place the cutout cookies on a silapat, baking sheet, or aluminium foil?

another silly question... do you take the tray out to place the candy and how fast should this be done?

I look forward to do these as a giveaways to my friends on my gal's full month party which is end of next month and i am due very soon! i hope to try this recipe before i give birth!

It will be great to hear from you! Sorry for the trouble but i will be very grateful if you can email me the details!

elsie_thng@yahoo.com.sg or
telsie24@gmail.com

Look forward for your reply!

THANKS once again for making such a lovely discovery!

Hi Florence,

Tried out these cookies sometime ago. But, I realised something, the candies became sticky after leaving it out for a while. Do you think it's due to the humidity of Singapore?

youfei
